Sorry, Toothpaste and Vaseline Won’t Increase Your Cup Size

The internet is a powerful tool. With just a few clicks, you can be transported from New York to across the globe to learn about other people, places, things, and ideas. For the most part, this access can be a great way to discover new concepts. But in some cases, it can simply lead to confusion.

We recently noticed some internet “hacks” for increasing breast size. While they are not necessarily dangerous, they are quite misleading and just plain incorrect. One example is the viral notion that rubbing toothpaste and/or Vaseline on your breasts can cause them to be firmer and even larger. These topical treatments might get you some stares, but likely not the kind you are hoping for. It might even leave you with inflammation, as toothpaste contain alcohol and other agents that can negatively affect your skin. Furthermore, as most women can testify, there isn’t much you can do to increase your cup size apart from breast augmentation.

In our facility, we chat with a lot of women who want to increase the size of their breasts. Today, there are many options to make this happen in a surgical setting. If you’re interested in going up a cup size or two, here are a few things you should know.

You Have Options

We love that science now allows women to have implants that make sense for their bodies. As you begin the augmentation consult process, we’ll be having many discussions about the variety of implants available. For example, you’ll need to decide if your breast implants will be filled with saltwater or silicone gel. Both implant types are very safe, and each offers its own advantages. We will also discuss your ideal size as well as where you would like the incision to take place.

A Breast Lift Might Be a Better Fit

Sometimes, people think that they want a boob job, but find out that a lift is a more appropriate solution for their wishes. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and to lift breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity, or simply the effects of gravity. The procedure can also reduce areola size, which is a concern for some women. The approach for your breast lift will depend on the extent of your breast tissue reshaping and how much excess skin needs to be removed.

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

For some smaller-chested women, the idea of jumping up several cup sizes is a dream come true. In reality, this might not be the right approach for your situation. As you choose your new shape, keep in mind that I also see a lot of women who are looking for a breast reduction. Larger breasts may look attractive, but they can cause back pain and other alignment issues as the years go by. During your consultation, we will discuss all of your options as well as what will look the most natural and flattering. There’s a lot to think about when you are getting ready to increase your breast size, but being mindful of your choices and investing in a real procedure will always yield better results than trying some crazy online trend. If you have questions, let’s set up a time to talk! You deserve a body that you love.
